Army researcher has designed a muzzle flash suppressor for firearms that reduces light signature in a novel way. seriously, check with the state on a specific model before you commit yourself. There are muzzle breaks that look like A2's but actually DONT suppress flash, and there are flash suppressors that don't look like flash suppressors. you should definately check with your state as to what is and what isn't considered a flash suppressor. the A1, A2, and all the other after market flash suppressors are all considered flash suppressors by the ATF. even if it's a muzzle break, if it suppresses flash the ATF considers it a flash suppressor. Muzzle brakes can reduce flash, like flash hiders, but they are designed to reduce the guns felt recoil. I live in a state where a FS is illegal, but a muzzle brake is not - have manufacturers ceased making the bottom slots so they are making MBs?uhh. Trying to get an idea what the recoil/noise differences are between a Flash Hider vs. ![]() This answer is more confusing - "a Muzzle brake dissipates the gases 360 degrees?" I though the purpose of the brake was to vent gasses upwards, to defeat muzzle rise, and the A2 birdcage has slots all the way around to lessen flash. ![]()
