Tim and Sue have owned property at Silver Star since 2006, originally in the Snowbird Lodge and in 2018 purchased a single-family home on the Knoll. Silver Star Mountain Resort serves as the year-round home of Tim and his wife Sue. In 2005, Shawn and Jocelyn bought a condominium in Silver Creek Lodge, expanding the opportunity for enjoyment of the “Hill”, even as their family expanded to include 12 grandchildren, and the tradition continues. Shawn has also served on the Silver Creek Lodge strata council. While on this council he chaired the Quality Assurance Committee. In addition to his community involvement, Shawn contributed to his profession both locally as president of the Vernon and District Dental Society and as president of the Thompson Okanagan Dental Society, and provincially by serving eleven years on the Council of the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia. He later served as president of the Arts Council of the North Okanagan, focusing, successfully, on raising its profile. As a Vernon City Councillor, he supported major initiatives to improve traffic flow in Vernon, served on the Arts Council of the North Okanagan, and served on the Okanagan Regional Library board where he participated on the steering committee for the realization of the new Vernon Branch. Shawn has significant experience in the governance of organizations, and is proud of his ability to address conflicting viewpoints in a respectful, collegial, and collaborative manner. A dentist, he has successfully operated his Vernon dental practice for 36 years. At least four little Lee’s terrorized the instructors of the “Stardusters “program as the whole family learned to ski at Silver Star.īesides being a dedicated family man, Shawn is an entrepreneur and a professional. Discovering the sunshine of Silver Star Resort, skiing became their major winter recreation. Shawn Lee - Shawn and his wife, Jocelyn, moved to Vernon from Alberta in 1984 with four children and 2 more to come. He resides as an owner in Creekside over the winter months. Enhancing Visitor experience in the resort town of Jasper, making memories for guests was always very high on his agenda. He was a founding member of the Jasper Rotary Club and previously Banff Club Ski. Dave was a board member, then Present of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce early 90s. Dave was a long standing member of Canada West Ski Areas Association, CWSAA from 1982 – 2019, voted in as Chairman of the board twice, was Chairman of the Risk Management Committee, and, travelled internationally with CWSAA for Ski Area Education 4 European countries, 5 US states. Two years after starting at Marmot Basin, Dave was tasked with managing Naskiska Ski Area for two years, in parallel with his management role at Marmot Basin. Dave has extensive experience in the ski industry, commencing with 11 years at Sunshine Village (from Ski Patrol and Maintenance to Vice President of Mountain Operations), then moving to Jasper to manage Marmot Basin Ski Area in Jasper National Park. Dave Gibson (Chair) - Dave Gibson retired in 2019 as President and CEO of Marmot Basin Ski Area in Jasper Alberta after 43 years in the ski industry and moved to the Okanagan.
